Do you have a go to appetizer? One that is so good and so easy that when you are asked to bring something you always offer an appetizer? One that is always the first appetizer gone and you never have any left to bring home? This is one of those dips.
A few years ago my sister in law made this when we were at her house and I got the recipe from her. However, I have since lost the written down recipe and it called for a very specific (read: expensive) salsa that you could only buy through a distributor. So I changed it up a bit and it is still awesome.
It could not be easier or more
Ingredients:
1 pound of ground beef
1 - 8oz package of cream cheese
1 - 16 oz jar of medium salsa (I try and buy one with black beans and corn but you don't have too)
2 cups shredded mexican cheese (or whatever you have on hand)
Chips
Directions:
1. Cook ground beef until browned. Drain off grease.
2. Add jar of salsa to skillet with ground beef. Set mixture aside.
3. Spread cream cheese in bottom of baking dish. I use either a 9x12 or an 8x8, either works fine.
4. Pour ground beef/salsa mixture over cream cheese
5. Top with shredded cheese.
6. Bake in 350 oven for 10-15 minutes or until cheese bubbles all over.
7. Serve hot with chips!
It really is the best dip! Go ahead and try it, you won't regret it. Well, you may regret the fact that you can't step away from the bowl but don't say I didn't warn you...
