happy friday y'all!

I'm so happy that it is Friday.  We don't have any real plans for this weekend and it is just what I need.  I also don't think we are expecting any freak snow storms, so we should be able to enjoy our days.  Actually, the boys enjoyed the snow it was just waaaaay to early in the season for me.

One thing I've had on my personal to do list for over a year is learn to use my camera's manual setting for picture taking.  This past summer, I moved that goal up and decided to do something about it.  I read a few books and just starting playing around with my camera.  I would not say that I have it all figured out.  I really have no idea what I'm doing, I just fool with the settings and keep snapping pictures until it turns out.  I want to get better at predicting what settings I should use in what light and all that but for now, I'm pretty pleased with what I'm doing.

This is one of the first pictures I took in manual and love what it expresses.  Here are some other recent pictures I took with my camera on the manual setting.

And I love these two, because I can see my progress in adjusting the settings and getting 'it'.  It is pretty much the same picture but the first one is way washed out and the second one is with the right settings.

As you can see, I still have a ways to go but it feels good to make progress on a goal.  I'd love to take a photography class or sit with a photographer and have them teach me more.  But for now, I just wing it.

What plans do you have for this weekend?  Have you recently made progress toward a goal?  I'd love to hear from you.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Hello Anne,
I love your photos using manual...you've got great colours in them. I love all your blog photos actually. I think you do have a talent for taking great, artistic photos!
Lovely to catch up on your posts...and it is looking SO cold in some of these photos! We are starting to warm up now but the weather like yours is very unpredictable.
And that is great you're running. I did the Couch to 5km (C25K) phone app program to go from not being able to run at all (the couch:) to up to 5km but once I got there it was hurting my knees too much I've had to stop which is a shame as it did feel great apart from aching knees!! Now I am content with walking to and from school twice a day instead:)
Enjoy your weekend and take care,
Anna

Anne- I need to read my manual, too. I also brought a book, too. Once we move into our new home, I need to do that. Love the pics.

Very pretty pictures indeed. You do have an eye for taking lovely pictures. Of course, I cannot imagine Grace taking a picture that isn't beautiful!
