I'm already thinking about Christmas Cards

I know that Thanksgiving hasn't even happened this year but I'm already thinking about my family's Christmas card.  I remember watching my parents address and write out their Christmas cards for years.  And I couldn't wait to start that tradition when Mark and I got married.

I recently heard someone talk and she said that they never started sending out Christmas cards because they didn't want to have to continue that tradition.  I am so thankful that we have and continue to send out Christmas cards.  Well, there was that one year that I boycotted Christmas and didn't send out cards.  That was the year that because of fraud and other nonsense John wasn't home when he should have been.  And well, truth be told, I didn't really boycott Christmas just the cards but that is a different post all together.

Anyway, I love the tradition of sending out cards and trying to find, make or manufacture the perfect picture of your family.  We always use pictures of the kids and not the whole family.  But one of these years I'd love to use our whole family.  We have made cards with the kids in matching pjs under the tree, in matching outfits (well that was when we just had John & Luke) under a dear friend's Christmas tree and most recently in complimentary outfits.  I just love to see the changes in our kids and our lives as the years go by.

In recent years it has been increasingly difficult to pick a card.  The selection and quality is incredible.  I have been browsing on Shutterfly's site recently and I am having a really hard time picking my favorite card out.  All the cards available can be found here.  They even have photo gifts available for so many different price ranges and occasions.  I think my coffee would just taste better in this mug.

Here are some of my favorite cards from Shutterfly.

I just love the elegant look of a 5x5 card.

I think it would be so great to do a collage and have the initial in the middle of the card.

This one is great because it has a message of faith, something we like to have on our cards.

All this looking at Christmas cards makes me want to go shopping for matching pjs and complimentary outfits for the kids.  I think once I have their clothing decided upon, it will be easier to pick a card (she says hopefully!).

I love receiving Christmsa cards. so I guess that means I need to send them too. I've been sending cards for years. One year, I didn't. It was a relief actually when I decided I wasn't going to do it. But I do love the tradition and will do it again this year!

I really like the one with the 'H' in the middle too...though they all look good and the last one is very good too.

I ordered ours from Vistaprint which has worked out ok but I am sure I could've been much more artistic if I had the time and patience for it:)
