happy birthday john!

Happy 9th Birthday John!!

John turned 9 this Saturday.  We didn't have a huge celebration because he is having a friend party this coming weekend.  He begged and begged for a friend party.  So we finally agreed to it, part of that agreement is that the party is his present from Mark and I.  I don't think he was convinced we would stick to it, until his birthday came and went without any presents from us.  But not to worry, he has grandparents, aunts and friends who will be buying him presents.  He's super excited for his party and invited all the boys from his class and the 'big' boys from our small group.  He wants all his friends to meet, how cute is that?!?  He is having a laser tag party at a local play place.  It should be fun.

John has changed and grown this year and we are seeing signs of who he will be when he grows up.  It is so amazing to see a child grow into the person God created them to be.  John loves his family and always wants us to spend time together.  He has a firm sense of right and wrong.  He is kind and caring with his sister.  His best friend is Luke.  He loves to play sports.  He also would watch sports on TV or play them on a video game all day long if we let him.  He is imaginative and creative.  He loves to draw and create things.  He is musical and wants to be in a band.  He is smart but is being challenged beyond his abilities this year, third grade is harder than second.  He hasn't decided what he wants to be when he grows up but top on this list are helping people, an artist, to be in the army and a dad.  He is funny and has a well developed sense of humor.  He still sleeps with the first stuffed animal he was given when he came home.  He made my dreams of being a mom come true eight years ago and I still remember the first night he slept in our home.  I love this boy so much!

Happy Birthday John, mommy loves you more than you will ever know...

Happy Birthday John! He's a wonderful boy you've raised! Love his comment that he includes "being a dad" when he grows up. He must be close with his dad!

You've done the right thing to permit him to have a cool laser tag party. It's a fun and energetic way to build his bonds of friendship.
