first day of school...

Well, it's here.  Today is the first day of school.  Today is the first day that I have all three kids in all day school.  Today is going to be a very long day...

This year we have the boys attending a private Christian school instead of going to the local public school.  It is not a decision we made lightly but rather one that we pondered for two years.  When we finally made the decision to enroll them into this school, it just felt right.  And we are more convinced than ever that this is the right choice for our boys for this year.  Our goal is to make our family's education decisions based on what is right for each child that year.  This will allow us to customize the education they receive to meet their individual learning needs.

Here are some first day of school pictures.  It was pouring rain and very cloudy so the pictures are darker than normal.

Here is Grace with her brothers.  She is starting the equivalent of Kindergarten at her new school.  She is riding a new van with a new driver.  He was so nervous since it was his first day of driving for this company that he showed up 20 minutes early.  She looked so little sitting on that van all by herself.  We are trying to get her IEP updated so she can have an aide on the van.

The obligatory front porch picture.

John starting 3rd grade.  When we showed up at school, 3 of the kids he met at sneak-a-peak last week yelled his name and called him over.  It was so nice to see him smile through his nerves.

Luke is starting 1st grade.  He will be going full day for the first time.  I'm not sure he realizes just how long that is going to be.  He gave me a big hug and kiss when I dropped him off.

And these are the boys favorite stuffed animal friends.  They left them for me so I wouldn't be lonely this afternoon without them.  It almost, but not quite worked.

I will be driving the boys to and from their new school and I'm really excited about this.  Everyone keeps telling me that it will get old after a while but I'm looking forward to the time alone with them to talk and process their days.  And now I only have 3 more hours until I get to see them again.

Oh Anne, how did their first day go? For them? and for you? What a big transition for your family! Exciting and heart wrenching all at the same time. Praying they each enjoy their time at school and praying for their teachers!
